Observation and Imagination
In its very essence, acting is recreating behavior, action, and reaction in a situation as closely as possible it would be in reality. It is truly powerful to drag your audience to a make-believe world convincingly enough to stir their very soul. The keen observation of human behavior in real life, accentuated by offering your own twist through your imagination and creativity, is bound to be your two most favored modes to create unforgettable characters. Through interactive lessons and the skills to notice minute layers and subtle changes in human behavior, we build actors that are individualistic in every approach; artists whose imagination is limitless and observation simply unparalleled.

What sets an actor apart from the crowd of the artiste is their ability to rely on their senses, perceive the world around them diligently, and project it to the viewers with careful coordination of all their senses. At our institute, actors are led to tap into their sensual memory in order to invoke an emotional reaction suitable for the moment in the scene. This technique effectively enables aspirants to deliver natural performances.

Action, Reaction, and Response
A set of acting techniques, these components prepare actors to fully grasp a scene and be aware of all its subsequent happenings. Through potent projects that methodically utilize these techniques, actors will be able to establish a refined understanding of the intensity and depth of an act.
Acting in a Film Scene
In this professional acting course, students will learn the essentials that distinguish acting in a film scene from acting on TV or theatre. They will also acquire first-hand experience on the importance of chiaroscuro in creating realistic 3D images or 2D flat images for dramatic effect. By learning about various angles of placement of the camera, students will learn the finer tricks of making characters look stronger, intimidating, or superior, in addition to where to look when performing. With this course, our faculty will also establish an easy-going relationship between the camera and the actors by directing them to various shots such as close-up shots, wide-angle shots, and mid-shot.
Reading Film Scripts
Understanding the intricacies of a character while reading the script provides actors with the intricate details to bring out the subtleties on the camera in a refined manner. This is also when an actor perceives a character from a 360-degree view and acquires the gist of the script, thus delivering a personal touch. The course will also equip you with techniques that help lift the character from a two-dimensional space on a sheet of paper to a three-dimensional reality in front of the camera.
Mise-En-Scene
Although the weight of a scene becoming massively effective lies on the shoulders of an actor, it would be to no avail if a set lacks the necessary cinematography, props, art direction, and others in order to provide the required depth, intensity, and effect. While the visual presentation of the scene sets the tone, a systematic comprehension of the technical aspect helps the character assimilate and associate with the scene perfectly.
Character Building
Characters don’t exist in a vacuum. A unique concoction of financial background, education, upbringing, and surroundings makes them who they are. It is, therefore, imperative to understand their psychology through the help of five Qs of character building, namely Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), Financial Quotient (FQ), Social Quotient (SQ), and Charisma Quotient (CQ).
Improvisations
Considered one of the core techniques in acting, improvisation is a state of a heightened sense of communication on the actor’s end. In fact, some of the best moments of cinema are ‘off scripted’ or more formally known as improvised. Improvs often give an actor chance to connect with the character by stretching their imagination with their own flavors of spontaneity. At JGSA, we encourage our students to give characters their own uniqueness through the fine-tuned technique of improvisation.
Acting for the Camera and Understanding the Basics
Acting on screen is relatively different from acting in front of a live audience. While acting in front of a live audience removes any chance of making a mistake and getting away with it, Performing in front of the camera comes with its own set of technicalities, logistics, and creative obstacles. Through this course, we will teach you to convey your emotions when conversing with other characters as much as we focus on teaching you to emote the silences.
We will also encourage you to build your own signature style, so you can easily connect with your character and simultaneously with your viewers naturally. Emphasizing your strengths as an actor, you will continuously improve your weaknesses to accomplish memorable dramatic effects.
Grooming
The physical appearance of an actor is crucial and makes the narrative of the story more believable. Throughout the duration of the course, you will also be guided through figuring out your body shape and clothes that flatter you, in addition to ways of enhancing your looks and personality.
